This time it's Crash Mansion, for K Salaam's and BeatNick record release party of their project ' Whose World Is This'. So I head as I am heading to spot while one the phone with Mena...Shout out to Mena. I get greeted by longtime friend Tamir Brown C.E.O of Lyrics To Go. First I must say that, this is a dude that has been doing this thing of music for some time. It is apparent, for those that know him; he is in love with hip hop. He has come a long way from his emcee days to be one of New York's best hip hop promoters. What's great about this cat is that is keeping a period of true hip hop alive. I mean I was nodding my head to some classic artist like Nice and Smooth, Tribe, Gang Starr while writing this blog in real time. Crazy!!!.... Thanks to my Palm Treo I could do that.

So who's the DJ spinning these fine classics?

It's DJ Mick Boogie. I mean this kid is taking me back to some good old fashion 90's hip hop. Speakers were a bit crackly and crunchy...but that's hip hop. Then a party wouldn't be right without some reggae. This was provided with none other than Hot 97's Bobby Konders and Jabba of Massive B. They were killing it with the whole sound system: sirens ringing, and horn blowing sound effects, moving back and forth on the set, wires swinging over each others head, just crazy...plus choosing some good old raise your lighter to some positive "riddims"( rhythms).

Black Ice of HBO's Def Poets and K Salaam played host between sets of performances from Umi, a talented M.C down with RBG, and Pharaoh Monch, who by the way gave a stellar performance. Crowd roared while as he gave verses from "Oh No" and "Simon Says". He was then followed by the ‘Revolutionary But Gangster' Dead Prez. What more needs to be said. They rocked. Take a look at G.P.M TV.

G.P.M.
